Our Background

The University of Guyana Economics Society (UGES) has sought to engage in activities or forums, both academically and socially, which will help to foster the development of students within the Department of Economics and even those campus-wide

​Through a variety of philanthropic and social activities, University of Guyana Economics Society inspires its members to adopt important values such as leadership, empathy and ambition, and to always strive for excellence.

The University of Guyana Economics Society (UGES) was resuscitated in June 2012 and since then, has sought to engage in activities or forums, both academically and socially, which will help to foster the development of students within the Department of Economics and even those campus-wide. Academically, we provide access to a variety of resources that can be used by both Economics Majors and other members of the faculty of Social Sciences. Additionally, members of the Society are available to assist in any difficulties Economics Majors may encounter with the basic courses taken. Socially, we facilitate activities which encourage the various year levels to interact and form bonds and also aid in the development of qualities such as leadership, self-expression and creativity.
